Big test in store for Moon boys lacrosse team
Winners of six of its past seven games, Moon Area High's boys lacrosse team gets an opportunity to see how much it has improved when it plays a quality opponent that blistered the Tigers on March 31.
Moon's 12-0 loss to Seton-LaSalle occurred during a four-game losing streak that began the season.
Since then, Moon has won six of its past seven games, with only a 9-7 loss to Vincentian Academy marring a highly successful run.
Four of the six victories during the run came against teams that play an Independent schedule like Moon. But the Tigers also defeated Division 2 opponent Norwin, 5-3, and they went into double-overtime before defeating Division 1 Trinity, 7-6.
The rematch with Seton-LaSalle, however, figures to be a huge challenge for Moon Area. The 7-3 Rebels likely will be smarting as they are coming off a 6-5 Division 2, Section 1 loss to Greensburg Central Catholic. Their other losses came against two other Division 2, Section 1 rivals: Canon-McMillan (10-9) and Quaker Valley (9-5).
It's likely few will give Moon Area much of a chance against a team that defeated the Tigers by a dozen goals back in March. Moon, though, continues to set a record with each victory as the second-year program won just one game in 2011.
