Moon will field a girls' basketball team that has no seniors and is searching for its first win in nearly 22 months.

The last time the Tigers won a game was Feb. 13, 2010 when they edged Pine-Richland in Section 3-AAAA game on their home floor. That year, Moon played in a section comprised mostly of teams in the northern suburbs of Allegheny County: Butler, Shaler, North Allegheny, North Hills, Seneca Valley and Pine-Richland.

Success--and victories--were hard to come by last year as the Tigers relocated to Section 4-AAAA, a grouping that featured three-time PIAA champion Mt. Lebanon, Bethel Park, Baldwin and Upper St,. Clair. The Tigers were outscored by 30.3 points a game on average, lost all 22 games they played and had an 0-12 section record.

Moon came closest to achieving victory with a 46-39 section loss to Peters Township and a 42-40 setback to Class AA South Side Beaver. All of the other losses were by double-digit margins.

New coach Doug Saklad has some height on an 11-player roster that features three juniors, five sophomores and  three freshmen. His tallest player is 6-0 freshman forward Abby Unis. Two sophomores, guard Annamae Bolen and forward Jayden Smith, are both 5-10.

Following the season opener with visiting Bethel Park, the Tigers visit Peters Township on Dec. 19 and then step out of section for a game with neighboring Class AAA rival Montour on Dec. 21.
