Montour football teammates decide on Temple
"The recruitment stories of Matt Barone and Tyler Haddock, Montour High School football teammates and close friends, read as though they came straight from Hollywood.
One makes a decision, but after heartbreak, reconsiders and goes a different route. The other, considered undersized by many, finds the courage to prove he is worthy of a scholarship.
And, of course, in a happy ending, the two choose the same college.
Only this story is not coming to a theater near you -- it will be back at Thomas J. Birko Memorial Stadium in Robinson Township, and eventually, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
Haddock, a 5-foot-11, 300-pound defensive tackle, and Barone, a 6-3, 275-pound offensive guard, have committed to Temple University in recent weeks, but Temple was not the first school to which either player committed. The two friends, key cogs in the Spartans' 2011 WPIAL Class AAA championship run, had committed to Kent State and Connecticut, respectively."
