Montour baseball team hitting stride in stretch run

Written by Sports Town on .

A rough stretch of four losses in five games threatened to derail the high hopes of the Montour baseball team but the Spartans have rebounded well and are back in the playoff hunt.

Montour, which has already advanced to the WPIAL finals this calendar year in football and basketball, increased its winning streak to four games with a 9-0 win over West Mifflin. The Spartans are now 11-5 overall and 7-4 in Section 3-AAA.

Despite the late surge, though, Montour remains a game out of a playoff spot as Chartiers Valley, South Park, and Thomas Jefferson are all 7-3. The Spartans do, however, control of their own destiny as wins in the remaining games (Trinity and Chartiers Valley) will at least pull the team into the playoffs

In the recent winning streak, Montour has been dominant, allowing just six runs while scoring 38.
