"The high school football recruiting season ended with the national signing day a month ago, right?
The truth is that football recruiting at the high school level never ends. As soon as college coaches solidified the class of 2012 they started working on the class of '13. And there are always a few players who are still out there for this year's class.
Take Ryan Lewis for example. Lewis is a 6 foot 5, 240-pound lineman who did not play a down this past season for WPIAL Class AAA champion Montour. He was ruled ineligible by the WPIAL and the PIAA after transferring from North Catholic.
Although Lewis doesn't have any recent football game film to show what he can do, he has been eligible to play basketball for Montour since mid-January and has had an opportunity to display his athletic ability. And that has produced some telephone calls to Montour football coach Lou Cerro.
"Yes, I've gotten a few," he said when asked about Lewis. "Some people have seen him play basketball and seen what he can do. They've mostly been from Division II schools. I'm not sure what he's going to do.""
