McKeesport softball team closing in on playoff berth
In 2010 McKeesport won 11 section games and easily qualified for the postseason. Last season the Tigers only won five section games and missed out on the postseason.
The Tigers are not going to win 11 section games as they did in 2010 but they do have a shot to snap their one-year postseason drought.
McKeesport is 6-6 overall and 5-3. Unlike in most sections where only one or two games remain, five section games remain for McKeesport and most of its Section 2-AAA rivals. The Tigers have remaining conference games against Franklin Regional on April 30, Penn Hills on May 1, Woodland Hills on May 2 and a doubleheader against Gateway on May 3.
The Tigers have been led by sophomore pitcher Jessica Beitler who has recorded every decision so far this season for McKeesport.
