Alumni Update - Shelby Ward (Slippery Rock)

WardShelbySlippery Rock senior forward Shelby Ward was a second-team selection on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Team.

Ward, a McGuffey High School graduate, earned her second career All-PSAC honor after being named to the first team last season. She currently ranks second on the team in scoring with nine goals and three assists and leads the team with five game-winning goals, including the winner in the PSAC title game.

Ward also converted her penalty kick, the first attempt taken, in the NCAA Divisi0no II Tournament opening-round shootout win over Edinboro.

Slippery Rock is currently riding an incredible run through the postseason.

Entering the PSAC playoffs as the No. 7 seed, Slippery Rock won three games in four days to win the third league title in school history, defeating the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds on the road along the way.

After the league title, Slippery Rock went on to eliminate No. 24 Edinboro and No. 16 California University of Pennsylvania from the NCAA Division Tournament in the first and second rounds. Slippery Rock will play in the Round of 16 for the second consecutive year when it travels to West Chester on Friday.
