Lincoln Park boys basketball team makes unwanted history in state title game

Written by John E. Sacco on .

Lincoln Park became the third team from the WPIAL to lose two straight PIAA championship games since 1920, with its 68-49 defeat to Constitution High School Friday in the Class A finale.

The Leopards committed 29 turnovers, which their opponent turned into 26 points.

It was just too much to overcome.

Constitution’s pressure defense slowed down Lincoln Park and helped it build a 14-point lead early in the third quarter.

To a player, the Leopards said Constitution’s quickness and their penchant for turning the ball over during the game led to their undoing.
