Alumni Update - Ty Lydic (Pitt)

Pitt freshman Ty Lydic won his first career open title by winning the 141-pound bracket at the Ashland University Open.

Lydic, a Greater Latrobe High School graduate, started his tournament run with a 2-0 decision over Trevor Moody of Indiana. Lydic followed with a 10-1 major decision vs. Robert Mason of Ashland and a 5-0 decision over Brandon Westerman of Campbellsville.

After scoring another close win to advance to the finals, 3-2 over Indianapolis' Justin Kieffer, Lydic took down Nick Barber of Eastern Michigan, 5-2, to claim the top spot on the podium.
