Latrobe hurdler emerges as a WPIAL title threat

"Greater Latrobe High School standout Jeff Elam had reason to be proud in 2011 when he qualified for the PIAA Class AAA track and field championships at Shippensburg University in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles events.

If anything, he is better prepared this season as this 6-0, 150-pound senior has established himself as a contender in both hurdles events and the 100-meter dash.

Elam shone for the Wildcats last Saturday at the 90th Westmoreland County Coaches Association meet at Greater Latrobe Memorial Stadium, winning all three events. He set county and stadium records in taking the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.57 seconds, then did the same in the 100-meter dash (10.85)."
