Alumni Update - Ryan Turnley (Pitt)
Pitt senior offensive lineman Ryan Turnley, a Hopewell High School graduate, has been named to the spring watch list for the Rimington Trophy, annually presented to the top center in college football. He is one of 50 players selected to the list by the Rimington Trophy committee.Turnley is coming off the most productive season of his career. Despite nagging foot injuries, he started all 13 contests last year and became one of the offense’s most valuable and reliable performers.
Turnley continued to build off his strong junior campaign by having an exceptional spring. Pitt head coach Paul Chryst honored him as the offensive recipient of the Ed Conway Award, presented to the most improved players of spring drills.
The Rimington Trophy is named after former Nebraska Cornhuskers great Dave Rimington, a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982. The award, established in 2000, is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised more than $100 million for research.
