Alumni Update - Brad Kubis (Bethany)
Bethany junior Brad Kubis, a Hopewell High School gradute, continued to pull in awards following a standout season, as he was recently named Third Team All-Mideast Region by both D3Baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).This is the first time Kubis has earned All-Region in his career and comes in the first season D3Baseball.com has started selecting All-Region teams. Kubis was named a Third Team All-American by the national web site following his freshman year in 2010.
This season’s recognition comes after Kubis posted a .372 batting average with one home run, six doubles, 27 RBI, 25 walks and a .482 on-base percentage.
Not only was he stellar with the bat, but he recorded another strong season as the Bison closer. Kubis made a team-best 14 appearances out of the bullpen and had a PAC-high seven saves. He struck out 12 and had a 3.78 ERA in 16 2/3 innings of work.
His performance this season earned Kubis the third All-PAC award of his career with Second Team laurels. According to Bison head coach Rick Carver, the All-Region distinction adds to an already stellar career that includes a Bethany record 24 saves and a .392 batting average that is fourth-best all-time at the school.
“Brad is very deserving of any accolades he earns,” said Carver. “He truly warrants to be listed among the top players in the region.”
