Hempfield football keeps building momentum

John Perotto's latest feature on the Hempfield football team:

"Rich Bowen laughed at the irony.

"When something electrical or some kind of plumbing works needs done in our house, my wife ends up doing it," Bowen said. "I'm not any good at that kind of stuff."

Nevertheless, in WPIAL football circles, Bowen is known as "Mr. Fix It" and he is at it again in the early stage of this season. Hempfield Area is 2-0 in its first season with Bowen as coach after going 1-8 each of the previous two seasons.

Both Hempfield victories have come inside the Foothills Conference and the Spartans play another conference game Friday night at 7:30 when they travel to Connellsville Area (0-2, 0-2)."
