Hempfield soph wins two WPIAL throwing titles

Written by Nicholas Tolomeo on .

Nicholas Tolomeo's feature on Hempfield's Max Adams, just before PIAA state track championships:

"Hempfield Area sophomore Max Adams can throw a discus farther than 180 feet.

Most years that would be good enough to be a favorite to win a PIAA Class AAA championship.

This is not most years.

Adams, the WPIAL Class AAA discus and shot-put champion, finds himself in a highly competitive field of throwers at the PIAA Class AAA championships May 25-26 at Shippensburg University and the Hempfield sophomore wouldn't have it any other way.

"It might seem frustrating but I would rather me win it when everyone expects me not to win it," Adams said. "To win it in a field like this would be a greater reward knowing you have to work harder.""
