Hampton hockey team off to strong start in Class AA
The Hampton hockey team, a Class A semifinalist last season, has moved up to Class AA this season and opened with a blowout of fellow Class AA team Gateway 12-2 Monday.
The Talbots scored eight goals in the second period to pull away from the Gators, the Section 3-AA champions last season.
Ryan Hornung led the way with three goals, two of which were shorthanded. Zack Cosick added two goals. Andy Coyle led the team with five points (one goal, four assists).
Cam Raidna stopped 27 of 29 shots in goal for the Talbots.
