Greensbrug Salem hockey team racks up goals against Carrick
Two weeks after crushing Carrick 13-3 in the season opener, Greensburg Salem took on the Raiders again Monday and once again cruised to a victory, this time 11-3.
In between the victories, the Golden Lions fell 10-3 to Ford City. But the blowout wins has helped Greensburg Salem place two players in the Open Division’s top 10 scoring leaders.
Vince Defazio leads the team with 11 points, 10 of which have come against Carrick, He scored four points (one goal, three assists) in the season opener, then had a hat trick with three assists in Monday’s game. Prior to Tuesday’s games, Defazio was tied for fifth in scoring in the division.
Defazio’s teammate, Jonathan Finger, is in 10th place in the division in scoring with nine points (six goals, three assists).
Greensburg Salem is currently tied for first in Section 4 with Baldwin and Keystone Oaks. The Golden Lions will play 2-0 Hollidaysburg tonight at Galatic Ice in Altoona.
