Gateway senior puts track opponents in rearview mirror

Brad Everett's feature on Gateway track star Aaron Barlow:

"The speed has always been there for Aaron Barlow.

Once Barlow, a senior at Gateway High School, gets going, he's like a blur. Very few WPIAL sprinters are in his league.

If Barlow is neck-and-neck with an opponent coming down the stretch, it's nearly certain he will edge them out. And when Barlow gets ahead, they can absolutely forget about chasing him down.

"When he gets in full flight, he's awesome," said Gateway coach Tom LaBuff.

For Barlow though, speed wasn't the obstacle in trying to become one of the area's premier sprinters. It's been his starts, which at times have given him difficulty. But with starting problems seemingly in his rearview mirror, Barlow expects an exceptional finish to his high school career."
