Mike White has the details on Gateway junior Jaymar Parrish's commitment to play his college football at Pitt.

"Pitt football coach Paul Chryst got his second recruit from the WPIAL class of 2013 Monday when Gateway's Jaymar Parrish made a verbal commitment to the Panthers.

Parrish is a 6-foot, 235-pound junior at Gateway who plays tight end and linebacker. But Pitt recruited Parrish as a fullback. Pitt's other recruit from the WPIAL class of 2013 is Seton-LaSalle tight end Scott Orndoff.

"They're going to line him up as a traditional fullback because they're a pro-style offense team," said Gateway coach Terry Smith. "He's an extremely physical blocker and just a tough, hard-nosed kid who is really athletic."

Akron also offered Parrish a scholarship, while Penn State, Wisconsin and Purdue were showing interest."
