Franklin Regional's younger hockey teams playing well
The Franklin Regional varsity hockey team has yet to win a game this season, but the future looks brighter as the program’s younger teams are faring well so far in 2012-13.
The Panthers’ junior varsity team is a perfect 5-0 and has outscored the opposition 31-9.
Zachary Bearly has a team-best six goals and 12 points. In net, Michael Damian has won three games while Nick Paone has won the other two. Both have goals-against averages that are no worse than 2.00.
In the freshman ranks, one of Franklin Regional’s two teams is also unbeaten at 3-0. The Franklin Regional Blue team has scored 32 goals in three games.
The blue squad has had 13 different players score goals, led by Jamie Mauro’s six. Mauro and Kyle Novak lead the team with nine points.
Mario Peluso-Myers has played all 135 minutes in goal for the team and has stopped 47-of-53 shots.
Franklin Regional’s other freshman squad, the gold team, is 1-3-1. Jason Haines has a team-best five points.
