Fox Chapel softball team keeps playoff hopes alive
With its postseason fate on the line the Fox Chapel softball team came through with back-to-back section wins on back-to-back days against Penn Hills and Gateway on Thursday and Friday.
The Fox Chapel bats came alive scoring 11 runs in a shutout win over Penn Hills and winning 10-5 over Gateway to stretch its winning streak to three games and keeping hope alive for the playoffs.
Fox Chapel pitcher Kim Corcoran fired a one-hitter while striking out seven in the win over Penn Hills. The Foxes still need help to get into the playoffs. Franklin Regional (8-1), Plum (6-2) and McKeesport (5-3) are currently in the top three spots with Fox Chapel (6-5) in fourth, the only other team alive in the section.
Fox Chapel plays its section finale on May 1 when it hosts section-leading Franklin Regional.
