Rangers mature into baseball contender

Written by Nicholas Tolomeo on .

Nicholas Tolomeo, with the details on the Fort Cherry baseball team:

"For 32 years Bob Sawhill worked for USAirways. His shifts would generally start around 4 a.m. For the past five years, Sawhill worked at Meadows Casino, his shifts would start at 5 a.m.

So after retirement in January of this year Sawhill finally had a chance to sleep in -- and he did, sort of.

Sawhill, the veteran baseball coach at Fort Cherry High School, finally had the chance to host offseason batting practice before school. The practices would start at 6 a.m.

Of course Sawhill did not mind waking up early, and surprisingly neither did his players. As many as 21 players would show up to the early morning sessions."
