Fort Cherry softball team ends season-opening losing streak
A year after reaching the WPIAL championship game, the Fort Cherry softball team was certainly in the midst of a rebuilding year.
Four senior starters graduated and third-year coach Shawn McHugh was fielding a lineup of three freshmen starters.
Things have been rocky for the Rangers but they finally got the monkey off their back with a 6-4 win over Monessen on April 12 that brought their winless season to an end. Fort Cherry is 1-8 overall and 1-3 in Section 1-A.
