McBride racking up strikeouts for Elizabeth Forward softball team
Elizabeth Forward junior Portia McBride has been making them miss on the softball diamond.
Through 13 games she had totaled 97 strikeouts. She has consistently been one of the toughest pitchers to hit even in losing efforts. In a 4-1 loss to West Mifflin earlier this year she struck out a career-high 15 batters.
There have not been many losses though for the Warriors who are 11-4 overall and 6-2 in Section 3-AAA. Next up for Portia and Elizabeth Forward is West Mifflin, again. The Titans cannot be thrilled about facing Portia a second time this season. Elizabeth Forward (6-2) is battling with Belle Vernon (6-2) for the section title. Thomas Jefferson (5-3) is also in the mix. The section will likely come down to the Warriors and Leopards meeting on May 1 at Belle Vernon.
