Alumni Update - Josh Etzel (Washington & Jefferson)

EtzelJoshWashington & Jefferson sophomore 141-pounder Josh Etzel, an Elizabeth Forward High School graduate, went 0-2 at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at LaCrosse, Wisc., last week.

Etzel finishes his season with a 24-5 record. He was the first President to compete at the national championship tournament in nine years.

Etzel drew the 141-pound's No. 2 seed, Kodie Silvestri of top-ranked Wartburg, for his first match. Silvestri earned a fall in 3:26 to advance to the second round.

Etzel fell into the consolation bracket where he met Kyle Windquist of Luther.  Windquist built an 8-2 lead after the first period and held off Etzel late for an 11-6 win.

Etzel is the 2012 PAC champion at 141 pounds and was named a National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American. He has a 31-6 career record.

Etzel, a chemistry and pre-med major, has earned a 3.6 GPA during his two years at W&J.
