"Coach urges team to play to potential" - story by John D' Abruzzo

2012_0223_Cnell_Maynard"Bill Sacco has not exactly been gloating over his team's success this season.

A longtime high school basketball coach who is in his 10th season with the Cornell boys team, he believes his group has recently not been playing to its potential.

"I don't think we're playing that well right now," said Sacco, who also serves as the school's athletic director. "It's not like we're in a funk, but I'm not sure why we're not playing the way we should be playing.

"We're not shooting well from the field and we're not shooting well from the foul line.

"I know we have the potential [to play well], and it needs to come from the players. We have to figure this out."

Seeded No. 6 in the WPIAL Class A tournament, Cornell improved to 17-5 following a 41-37 first-round victory against Quigley Catholic this past Friday at Ambridge."
