Clairton names new basketball coaches
When Clairton opens up the basketball season late this fall, both the boys and girls teams will have new coaches patrolling the sidelines.
Last week, Matt Geletko was hired as boys coach and Charles Shealey as girls coach.
Geletko was an assistant for the Clairton girls team last season and was previously a longtime assistant on Bob Rozanski’s staff for the Serra Catholic boys. He was a finalist for the Serra job when Rozanski retired after the 2010 season, but the job ultimately went to Vince Gibbons.
Geletko takes over for Von Pitts, who helped Clairton earn a split of the Class A Section 4 title and reach the WPIAL quarterfinals last season.
In March, the Clairton school board voted to open the basketball coaching positions.
Shealey replaces Remondo Williams. Shealey was outstanding in his playing days at Schenley and then Delaware State University. Shealey is still one of Delaware State’s all-time leading scorers.
