Written by Nicholas Tolomeo on .

Chartiers-Houston is back in the PIAA semifinals for the second consecutive year and the Buccaneers are looking to write a different ending. They will face District 5 champion Fannett Metal on Monday at St. Francis University at noon.

Last season Chartiers-Houston edged Fannett Metal 2-1 in the PIAA quarterfinals last season to reach the PIAA semifinals. The Buccaneers were denied a trip to the PIAA final after they fell short against Clarion 3-2.

The WPIAL champion Buccaneers have been getting it done a number of different ways. They closed out the regular season by activating the ten-run mercy rule in their final seven games. In the WPIAL playoffs the Buccaneers ten-runned Riverview and Jefferson-Morgan to reach the WPIAL semifinals. Things got closer from there on our as the Buccaneers topped Vincentian 3-1 in the semis and Carmichaels 3-2 in the finals.

In the PIAA playoffs Chartiers-Houston  (25-1) blanked District 9 runner-up Brockway 4-0  in the first round. In the PIAA quarterfinals the Buccaneers edged District 10 champion Saegertown 4-3. Senior pitcher Kayla Briggs has been a catalyst for the team. She pitched a complete game against Saegertown while also driving in a run.
