Chartiers-Houston softball team all but wraps up top seed
Chartiers-Houston continued to flex its muscles in Class A with seven consecutive wins by ten or more runs to close out the regular season.
That stretch included a 14-2 thumping of Serra Catholic. The Buccaneers scored a run in all seven innings of the game against Serra and they spread the wealth, scoring one, two or three runs in each inning.
Junior pitcher Kayla Briggs got the win. The offense was led by senior shortstop Rachel Tucker who had three hits and sophomore third baseman Haley Sutton who hit a home run.
Defending WPIAL champion Chartiers-Houston finished the regular season 19-1 with its lone loss coming at Class AAA McGuffey. The Buccaneers now await the WPIAL pairings meeting on Thursday where they are all but ensured the No. 1 overall seed for the second consecutive year.
