Char-Houston beats Fort Cherry to win WPIAL A softball title

Mike White covered the WPIAL Class A softball final between Chartiers-Houston and Fort Cherry, held June 2 at California University.

"It had been more than a month since Chartiers-Houston gave up a run, but that scoreless streak ended Thursday.

It had been 12 months since the Buccaneers lost a game, and that streak continued.

Chartiers-Houston kept its perfect record intact this season, ran its winning streak to 24 games over the past two years and in the process won the WPIAL Class A championship with a 9-3 victory against Fort Cherry at California University's Lilly Field."
