Char-Houston makes quick exit from PIAA Team Wrestling Tournament

The Chartiers-Houston wrestling team made a quick exit from the PIAA Class AA Wrestling Team Tournement, which is being held at Hershey's Giant Center, after losing twice.

Chartiers-Houston, the WPIAL runner-up, dropped a 41-21 decision to District 10 champion Reynolds in the second round on Thursday night. The Buccaneers jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a decision by Richie McGinnis at 103 pounds. Reynolds, the 2010 PIAA runner-up, recorded wins in the next six bouts to take a commanding 29-3 lead. Neal Engstrom (112), Dylan D'Urso (130), and Austin Matthews (140) had pins for Reynolds during the rally. Chartiers-Houston stayed alive with wins in three of the next four bouts, including technical falls by Michael Innes (152) and Garrett Vulcano (171). Jamar Henry (189) clinched the victory for Reynolds with a 4-1 overtime decision of Joey Congie.

In Friday's action, Chartiers-Houston dropped a heart-breaking 29-28 decision to District 3 runner-up Biglerville (25-3) in the first round of consolations. Garrett Vulcano (160) had a pin for the Buccaneers, while teammates Michael Innes (152) won by technical fall, and Tanner Sutton (135) by major decision. Jesse Gardner (140) and Noe Aguilar (215) had pins for Biglerville.

Chartiers-Houston finishes the season with a 16-3 record.
