Central Valley girls' basketball team loses second game in a row to Elizabeth Forward

Written by Joe Koch on .

Back on Feb. 23, Central Valley girls basketball fans likely thought the Warriors season might have come to an end with a 66-45 loss to Elizabeth Forward in a WPIAL Class AAA quarterfinal game at West Allegheny High School. At that time, many thought that Blackhawk would defeat Elizabeth Forward in their eventual quest for a WPIAL Class AAA girls basketball championship.

But that didn't occur as Elizabeth Forward stunned Blackhawk, 78-64, to advance to the WPIAL Class AAA championship, where it eventually lost to South Park 50-32.

The strange set of circumstances allowed Central Valley to participate in the PIAA Class AAA tournament. But the schedule drawn up by the PIAA meant Central Valley would meet Elizabeth Forward in a first-round game this past Saturday at Baldwin High.
