Central Catholic hockey team getting solid goaltending
Central Catholic (4-2) currently has eight points, the second-highest total in the PIHL Class AAA.
Kevin Dziubek has been in net for six of those points.
The goaltender is currently 3-0 and has allowed just four goals in three games. He has stopped 44-of-48 shots in two wins over Hempfield and a win over Penn-Trafford.
Central Catholic’s other goaltender, Brian Burger, doesn’t have quite as good of numbers as Dziubek, but he has also had to face tougher competition.
Burger is 1-2 with a 2.67 goals-against average and .873 save percentage. But his two losses came against top-ranked North Allegheny and Mt. Lebanon, a Penguins Cup quarterfinalist last season that is currently 2-2.
The two goals Burger gave up against North Allegheny is the fewest a goaltender has given up against the Tigers in five games this season.
