Central Catholic's Buckley hopes to stay hot in baseball playoffs
It’s been quite a run for Central Catholic’s M.P. Buckley.
Buckley, a junior outfielder, heads into the WPIAL Class AAAA playoffs on a tear, having hit seven home runs in his past six games. The power streak included a grand slam in a 7-0 win against Woodland Hills, which clinched the Vikings a share of the Section 4 championship. One day later, Buckley closed the regular season by hitting a home run in an 8-7 non-section victory against Seneca Valley.
“I have never seen a player do what he has these last two weeks,” Central Catholic coach Frank LaCava said last week. “I hope he can keep it up.”
The Vikings (15-4-1) play Shaler (13-7) in a first-round game today at CCAC-Boyce in Monroeville.
