Carrick hockey team rebounds after rough start
After winning 12 games and making the playoffs last season, Carrick found itself 0-4 after an 11-3 loss to Greensburg Salem on Nov. 12 in the team’s first season under coach Matt Maurice.
In those four games, the Raiders were outscored 43-14.
But since the loss to the Golden Lions, Carrick has rebounded with two wins, an 8-5 victory over Frazier last Thursday and a 9-2 victory over Connellsville on Monday. The win over Frazier reversed an earlier result, as Frazier beat Carrick 10-6 on Nov. 8.
Anthony Manueal has led the way, scoring six goals and adding seven assists in the two wins. For the season, Manueal has nine goals and 13 assists to lead the team with 22 points.
Jacob Shrader has added eight goals and seven assists on the season for the Raiders, with five goals and four assists coming in the past two games.
