Lombardo, a Canon-McMillan High School grdaute, got his season underway by going 4-0.

The defending 165-pound PAC champion picked up two of his wins by major decision over two NCAA Division II opponents. Lombardo beat Shippensburg’s John Lindquist 16-4 for his first major decision of the year during Waynesburg’s 34-7 loss to the Red Raiders, who are ranked 24th in the nation. Lombardo’s second major decision came in a 17-5 triumph over Lake Erie’s Christian Baughman. Waynesburg fell to the Storm 30-7.

Lombardo’s decision wins came in dramatic fashion as he defeated York’s Drew Spector 7-5, before bumping up to 165 pounds to beat Tiffin’s Alex Rivera 4-3. The Jackets faced three Division II opponents to open up dual competition, along with a traditionally strong Division III York team.
