Canon-Mac's Johnson sweeps jumping events at WPIAL meet
Joe Koch's feature on Canon-McMillan jumper Shawn Johnson:
"Winning a WPIAL track and field championship is special.
When an athlete can do that three times in the more demanding disciplines in track and field's order of events at the same meet, it draws some heady attention.
That's the feat recorded by Canon-McMillan High School field event standout Shawn Johnson in the WPIAL Class AAA track and field championships last Thursday at Baldwin High School.
Johnson, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound senior from Canonsburg, defeated Seneca Valley's Tom Kocur in a jump-off in the high jump and was credited with a winning height of 6-4. Johnson also won the long jump with a leap of 22-111/2 and the triple jump with an effort of 46-9."
