Butler baseball feels it has enough arms to succeed in playoffs
All season long, Butler felt as if it had three aces it could play who could blow in like a Tornado.
Senior right-handers Mick Fennell, Colin McKee and Matt Baranchak serve as the Golden Tornado's starting pitchers, and Butler has a chance to win when any of the three are on the mound.
With the WPIAL playoffs looming, Butler feels as if it has three aces it can play who will blow in like a Tornado.
"Most teams usually run two starters, but we have three reliable starters we can count on," Fennell said. "When there's some rain, or sometimes games just get jammed up in the playoffs, you really need three starters to be able to rely on to go the distance."
Heading into its Section 1-AAAA regular-season finale Monday against Seneca Valley, Butler was 13-4 overall and had allowed more than four runs in a game only twice all season. The Golden Tornado had allowed 25 runs in its 13 victories (an average of 1.9 per game) and an average of 2.8 runs per game overall.
