Havelka named head football coach at Burgettstown

At our School Board Meeting last night, the Board approved Terry Havelka as our new Head Football Coach.
Terry graduated from Burgettstown High School in 1975 and was a four year letter winner in football and baseball, and a three year letter winner in wrestling. He quarterbacked Conference Championship teams his junior and senior seasons.
He graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1979 with a degree in Health and Physical Education. At William and Mary he was a 4 year letter winner in football and a 3 year starter as a defensive back and punt returner. He also lettered in baseball one year.
He has been a teacher here for 33 years. He has been an assistant football coach here for 25 years, ten of those as Offensive Coordinator.
He was Assistant Wrestling Coach for 14 years and has been Head Wrestling Coach for the past 19 years with a record of 197-85, four Team Section Championships and one individual State Champion. He will continue to coach wrestling.
"Terry has dedicated his career to helping make Burgettstown High School better. He cares about our students and our school. The district hopes Terry will bring enthusiasm for the football program back to our community. He is well respected by the students and in the community and we hope he is able to attract former players to get involved in the program and Booster Club."
