Braudis off to hot start for Blackhawk hockey team

Coming off a 26-goal season in 2011-12, Blackhawk’s Daren Braudis is off to a hot start in the 2012-13 season.

After going scoreless in Blackhawk’s season-opening 4-2 loss to Morgantown. Braudis exploded for four goals and two assists in an 8-2 win over Ambridge.

Blackhawk outshot Ambridge 58-10 in the contest. Last season, the Cougars went 0-1-1 against Ambridge (formerly Quigley), the defending Open Cup champions.

Joshua McCuean and Kyle Schaefer have added two goals and two assists apiece. Braudis, Schaefer and McCuean were the Cougars’ top three scorers last season.

Returning starting goaltender Grant Rombold has stopped 37-of-43 shots in playing all 102 minutes between the pipes.

Blackhawk will get another shot at 3-0 Morgantown tonight when the two teams square off in Morgantown at 8:20 p.m.
