Alumni Update - Adam Liberatore (Montgomery Biscuits)
Adam Liberatore would love to follow in the footsteps of Brian Omogrosso.Liberatore, a left-handed reliever, is a Blackhawk High School graduate who is pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays' Class AA Montgomery farm club in the Southern League. Omogrosso, also a Blackhawk grad, was called to the major leagues for the first time in his seven-year professional career on Friday by the Chicago White Sox.
Liberatore has pitched well in a late-inning role this season, going 3-3 with seven saves and a 2.93 ERA in 26 games for Montgomery. He also received a brief promotion to Class AAA Durham of the International League early in the season and pitched one scoreless inning in one appearance.
The Rays selected Liberatore in the 21st round of the 2010 amateur draft. He has an 11-9 career record with 10 saves and a 2.85 ERA in 82 games, including one start, in three minor-league seasons.
