Blackhawk baseball team likely to be in another pitcher's duel
It would seem like high school baseball fans that like pitching should head to North Allegheny High School Monday at 7 p.m.
That’s the site for the matchup between top-seeded Blackhawk (19-2) and fourth-seeded Thomas Jefferson (15-4) will take place and the old baseball joke that all a pitcher needs to do to win is pitch a shutout and hit a home run will no longer be a joke.
Thomas Jefferson has ace Greg Schneider on their side, he of the 8-0 record and 88 strikeouts in the regular season. At the plate, he has a batting average of .583 and four home runs.
Blackhawk, on the other hand, has a pair of pitchers who could throw and each would be an undisputed ace on any other team. Righty Adam Rousseau has an 8-0 record with an ERA of 0.29. Lefty Brendan McKay has a record of 6-1 with three saves and an ERA of 0.60.
Last Wednesday on a cold evening, Rousseau started and went six innings as McKay had shoulder stiffness in a 1-0 win over Chartiers Valley. McKay pitched the seventh. The weather is likely not to contribute to shoulder stiffness this time around.
