Alumni Update - Tim Lipp (Gannon)
Gannon senior shortstop Tim Lipp was a second-team pick on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West baseball team.Lipp produced a .302 average to go along with a .396 slugging percentage and a .405 on-base percentage. He recorded a team-best 32 runs, 10 doubles, 29 RBIs, 20 walks and eight stolen bases.
He had a team-high 13 multiple-hit games and six multiple-RBI games. Lipp also produced a team-high nine-game hitting streak March 18-30.
Lipp enters the PSAC Tournament fourth all-time at Gannon in walks (76), fifth in hits (160), fifth in runs (108), fifth in RBIs (85), seventh in doubles (33), seventh in games played (173), 10th in stolen bases (35) and 10th in total bases (199).
Gannon is 25-21 overall and 14-10 in the PSAC mark this season.
Gannon's appearance at the 2012 PSAC Tournament that begins today at Pullman Park in Butler is the program's first postseason appearance since the 1970 team played in the NAIA Tournament. The Golden Knights enter the tournament as the Western Division's second seed after clinching their first winning season since 1985 last weekend and are attempting to finish at least five games over .500 for the first time in school history.
The squad has already surpassed last year's victory total by 10 games.
In addition to producing the first-ever winning conference record in school history, Gannon set new school single-season records for overall victories (25) and conference wins (14) this season. The Golden Knights have the most triples (14), lowest ERA (3.97), lowest opponent batting average (.272), most saves (7), most complete games (19), fewest runs allowed (193) and fewest earned runs allowed (142) in program history since at least the 1999 campaign.
