Alumni Update - Colin Loughner (Mercyhurst)

LoughnerColinMercyhurst sophomore first baseman/designated hitter Colin Loughner, a Blackhawk High School graduate, was a second-team pick on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West baseball team.

Loughner got just two at bats during his freshman year, but has become a mainstay in the lineup as a sophomore.

He has posted a .281 batting average this season with 34 hits in 121 at bats. Loughner hit his first career home run against Lock Haven on April 7 and added 17 runs batted in. He also has committed just two errors in 208 chances at his first base position (.990 fielding percentage).

The Lakers enter the PSAC Tournament as the top seed in the West for the second straight year. Mercyhurst will play the fourth seed in the East, Millersville, in the team's first game of the double elimination tournament.

The tournament gets underway on Wednesday the Mercyhurst-Millersville game being the final game of day one. First pitch is scheduled to begin around 6:30 p.m. at Pullman Park in Butler.
