Experienced line leading Bishop Canevin hockey team's offense

Written by Ryan Riordan on .

When Bishop Canevin has needed goals this season, it has often looked to a pair of twins.

Seniors Austin Large and Patrick Large lead the team with eight points apiece and have combined to score nine of the team’s 19 goals.

“They definitely have an instinct for where each other is on the ice that can only exist with twins,” Bishop Canevin coach Kevin Zielmanski said.

The Large twins team with Chris Reda to form one of the more successful lines so far this season in Class AA. Reda has one goal and five assists through four games.

The three spent all last year playing on the same line, and that has helped their play this season.

“We put the line together last year as basically our third line, in hopes they would grow together for this season,” Zielmanski said. “They’ve been very good for us.”

The trio combined for two goals and three points in the Crusaders’ come-from-behind win over Chartiers Valley Monday night.

Bishop Canevin was down 4-0 with less than 14 minutes remaining in the second period, but scored the next six goals on their way to a 6-5 win to remain unbeaten (3-0-1).
