Bethel Park's Metheny plays like a veteran in football playoff debut
Bethel Park freshman quarterback Levi Metheny didn’t act his age during the regular season, regularly looking like a multi-year starter in helping the Black Hawks reach the WPIAL playoffs.
Metheny showed more of the same in his postseason debut.
Bethel Park won at McKeesport, 31-20, in a Class AAAA first-round game last Friday, and Metheny was a big reason why. Metheny helped the Black Hawks jump to a 28-0 halftime lead by scoring on touchdown runs of 1 and 45 yards. Metheny was also efficient throwing the ball in the game, as he completed 8 of 10 passes for 138 yards.
On the season, Metheny is 67 of 116 for 943 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 370 yards and six touchdowns.
Bethel Park (7-3), the No. 9 seed, plays No. 1 North Allegheny (10-0) in a quarterfinal game Friday at North Hills.
