Alumni Update - Dave Trushel (Washington & Jefferson)

TrushelDavidWashington & Jefferson senior pitcher Dave Trushel, a Bethel Park High School graduate, was a second-team selection to the 2012 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Mideast Region Team.

Trushel, the 2012 PAC Pitcher of the Year, tied a Presidents’ single-season record with nine victories, while setting a new W&J benchmark with eight complete games. He ranked seventh in NCAA Division III in complete games and 13th in wins.

Trushel posted a 2.96 ERA and struck out 59 batters in 85.0 innings. Opposing hitters batted just .233 against him.

Trushel completed his career second all-time with 25 victories, 158 strikeouts, 266.2 innings pitched and 11 complete games. He is the Presidents’ career leader with 53 appearances.

W&J (36-10) made its third NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in the last four seasons under Head Coach Jeff Mountain.  The Presidents won a school-record 36 games and claimed the Presidents’ Athletic Conference regular-season title.
