As usual, Bethel Park hockey team is coming on strong as homestretch starts

Adamski elaborates on the way Bethel Park picks up its team performance in the late part of the hockey season.

"In searching for an explanation as to why his perennially powerful Bethel Park hockey team has endured disturbingly slow starts in recent seasons, only to look very much the role of the Penguins Cup contender it thought it would be all along come late February, Black Hawks coach Jim McVay reluctantly concedes a theory.

"You know, I can be pretty demanding," McVay said during an interview in which he discussed the team's lack of focus early in seasons.

Whatever it is, it's not so much the slow starts that have become the Black Hawks' calling card in recent years as much as it is the strong finishes to the regular season.

Bethel Park began this season 3-7-1 but has won four consecutive games. The win that got the Black Hawks back to .500 was the most eye-opening: Bethel Park defeated previously unbeaten Canon-McMillan, 7-4, Monday."
