Background info: Delval was an all-section third baseman the last two seasons, but has made his mark as one of the top pitchers in Class A this season. Heading into last Friday, Delval was 5-0 on the mound for Bentworth, which is 13-0 overall, 9-0 in Section 2. Delval also leads the Bearcats in home runs and RBIs.
Coach Dion Jansante said: “Obviously, it’s a team effort. He’s one part of our group of six seniors that are starting. As far as his contributions, he’s done a great job pitching. He’s 5-0. He also has five home runs. The last four or five games, he’s been receiving a lot more walks. Most of his hits are extra-base hits than singles.”
