After tough 2011-12, Beaver Area hockey team starts season strong

Written by Ryan Riordan on .

The Beaver hockey team accumulated just six points in 20 games last season in the Open division, as the team lost its last 13 games.

The team had zero shutouts in those 20 games.

But through one game this season, Beaver already has held a team without a goal.

Beaver shut out Wheeling 5-0 Monday in the season opener. Two goaltenders shared time Monday, with James Soisson stopping all 15 shots he faced and Tara Treloar stopping 12-of-12 shots.

Offensively, Anthony Suchanec equaled his goal output for all of last season, scoring two goals.

Beaver will return to the ice tonight to take on 2-0 Morgantown.
