Background info: Christian Herstine is wrapping up a tremendous senior season for Beaver High School, after losing most of last year to injury and illness. He quarterbacked the football team into the WPIAL playoffs and then was the leading scorer on the basketball team that went further in the playoffs than any other Bobcats team in history. This spring, he is leading the Beaver baseball team back into the playoffs after winning just four games last year.
Coach Bruce Herstine said: “Christian is just about back to full health and is having a very good year. He’s been one of our top hitters and one of our top pitchers all year – he’s lost just two games and both were on unearned runs. I’ve moved him into the leadoff spot because he’s smart and knows these pitchers so well that he’s got 15 or 16 steals already. Of the three sports, baseball is his favorite.”
